Ticks, Ticks Ticks….they are everywhere.

Am I reading that correctly? 1 Shirt, 1 pant, and 1 pair of socks for 110 dollars?
That's 5 bottles of the premix and hundreds of gallons of the diluted concentrate....
How much do they charge if u send them ur clothes for them to treat? I pretty sure I remember somebody saying they offered that service

Not trying to be argumentative....just making an observation.
I don't know about Gamehide clothing, but the Insect Shield company will treat your clothes for you and charge you by the pound. It's the same concept as the Gamehide clothing...Permethrin is "baked-in" and lasts for up to 70 washings. I have some Insect Shield clothing and it works great against ticks. I've always bought the factory Insect Shield clothes, I've not yet sent them my own (non Insect shield) clothes for them to treat, but I assume that I will do that some day. As I remember, the price was reasonable. I still use concentrate permethrin on my work-type clothes and I keep my nicer "factory" Insect Shield clothes for the less rigorous activities. I like having some of the permanent treated clothes because I always have some that are ready to go. I don't always want to mix concentrate, spray stuff, and wait for it to dry before I can use it.
Permanently treated permethrin clothes are well worth the investment.

I buy the concentrated stuff and mix it a little stronger than the recommended 0.5%, closer to 0.75%, and spray everything until it's completely soaked. How long it will last depends on sun exposure, and less so washings. I have a pair of jeans I treated in August and wore a bunch during the hunting season, and the treatment was still effective this spring, though I did just re-treat them again to be safe.

Dang.....the **** tick, thats a good 1
Worst I've had is a little seed tick inside my bellybutton
Hahah. Never had a d*** tick. One between my toes that took me a few days to detect somehow.

For me it's not only the importance of treating the clothes and the top down tucking in method since ticks always climb up; but also wearing lighter colored clothes this time of year. If I am scouting a new area in the off season, I will wear light tan pants and shirts. That way I can do a quick visual check after I walk through a really thick area or I will just do a double check every 20 min or so. Can't do that very well with Camo on. Usually change pants, shirts and boots right at the truck too when I get done. And of course shower as quick as possible along with the spouse rolling her eyes when I ask her to "check me out."

Any Michaganders been out and about in tick country - how are they? Bad?
I'm from Boyne City, MI. I've spent a bunch of time in the woods this spring between turkey hunting (treated clothes) and scouting (mostly non-treated clothes) and I've only seen two. My daughter had one crawling on her after a turkey hunt and I had the one from the bike ride. Seems about pretty close normal expectations to me for my part of the world.

I’ve heard they’re bad this year. I sprayed all my stuff down with permethrin and haven’t had a single tick yet. I’ve been crawling through some nasty stuff trying to sneak on turkey, sat in overgrown fence rows for hours, and walked through a bunch of tall grass and I’ve not had one.
Same experience. Seems to work really well. I have a third arm growing out of my back now, but I think that's unrelated.

My neighbour went fishing yesterday. He has anti tick clothing but decided not to wear it.
When he got home he found one on his back and one on his penis.
Wear the clothes, spray down.

Oh the **** tick... I’ve had on of those before. I’ve never felt so violated in my life.

I spray my clothes including the inside of my pant cuffs and hoodie. I always think about the game hide stuff but usually end up buying something else. So far the spray down works extremely well.

Can't help but chime in on this. The ticks are absolutely terrible in my area this year. Took a quick scouting trip to a new area the other day and picked 6 off me while I was in the woods and then found 6 more when I got home. Came in my back door where my washer and dryer is located, stripped down and threw all of my clothes including my undies in the dryer. Next day my wife cleaned the dryer lint screen and found 4 more dead ones. I'm having my yard sprayed next week. Had it sprayed last year and didn't see one tick after the treatment.

Was sitting at my reloading bench a week ago loading up some 308 when it felt like my nuts were being attacked. Almost felt like i dropped the cherry from my cig down my pants (No i wasn't smoking at the reloading bench LOL). Scratched, didn't go away...Went in for further inspection and all be dammed...No See Um snacking on my berries!
I'm pretty religious on using Permethrin and haven't found any ticks this year. Since ya'll were talking about D**k ticks, i figured good spot to talk about the no see um berry mucher. :flushed:

Well boys as of about two weeks ago I got Lyme Disease. Look out for those ticks!

Good news is that it's 100% curable as long as diagnosis and treatment weren't substantially delayed. Just make sure you take ALL the antibiotics they prescribed you, even once your symptoms are gone.

Yup. Think they caught it early and symptoms are gone. Got about a week of antibiotics left. Fingers crossed it's cured

"Next day I found another on my leg that I know was not there the previous day, so I don’t know where that one came from."

Probably your truck/car. I have found several crawling around me or backpack input in truck 2 or 3 days later. They get on while your out and fall off or are on gear you bring in. Then next time you get vehicle they come at you again.

Lyme disease is bad enough ... but not the only debilitating tick-borne disease carried by deer ticks. This just in from Connecticut Department of Health:

At least Lyme can be cured….that Lone Star Tick induced meat allergy would do me in. Can you imagine having to be a vegan?
