Top 5 best/worst gear purchases

It’s been a while since this was updated and I figured I’d add my two cents as I go through my gear to prepare for the season.

Best
Quality sticks: I have used Shikars for the last three seasons and they are awesome. Trying out the one sticks this season and so far they are great.
Insulating and wind proof layers for mid season: the Sitka midi jacket and the stratus jacket carry me through a lot of conditions with a synthetic base layer.
Game bags and a quality pack to pack game: I use the caribou game bags sized for a mule deer along with a mystery ranch cabinet to pack deer out of hairy spots that other people won’t go.
P. Tech remix pro headlamp: always comes on on a low red setting but i can hold the on button and have a very bright spotlight when I need it.
Mapping software on my phone and a portable charger, I use onX and it keeps me out of trouble.

Worst
Sitka Celsius jacket (not the midi): this jacket is quite warm but is extremely bulky and has zero wind protection. The bulk this item has makes it difficult to layer. I was not surprised when they discontinued it.
Trophy ridge bow sight: the plastic components used broke under normal use and I missed the first buck I drew back on then put a bad hit on a doe. Their quick customer service may have redeemed them, however, I can’t bring myself to use their sights.
Ladder stand: I bought this with the intention of putting it up in a high traffic pinch point to hunt the rut with my kids/wife but it has sat in my garage for 2 years untouched.
Cheap archery target: I bought a delta McKenzie and it barely lasted a year. I recently bought a Rinehart and the difference in quality is quite apparent.
Cheap game cameras: they do ok, but I really feel like they miss a lot of things.

So what didn't go as planned here? My dad has a couple ladder stands he bought a few years ago on a ridiculous deal so that I could use with my kids when they're old enough to where a harness. What turned you off from them? What do you do instead? Ground blinds?
