Your not using these as main life support are you? This is only a back up to a rappelling device, right?
 
interesting. it looks flat, opposed to hollowblock's squareish cross section- i was able to get autoblock to hook up on oplux alright but always looking for a better option.

and yes, @gcr0003 i can't speak for OP, but my use is as an auto block when i rappell with my ATC. with an 18kn breaking strength, it's probably ok to be used as your main prussik (life support). note i said "probably" not "you should do this"
 
Back up for me, but I like to able to use as primary for short period of time if needed.

While I appreciate your looking out for the safety of myself and others, and also not trying to be negative toward you personally, BUT it feels an awful lot like there’s beginning to be a pattern “round here” of assuming people are idiots. Are we really at the point where every post containing paracord requires a Karen to come along and scold everyone that it shouldn’t be used as a main life support? I mean I get it some people do dumb things and we do have some new people coming along asking basic questions. However, if you actually read the posts in this thread it would appear up to this point we are all familiar with hollowblock and it’s uses. Youve been here a while too, how would you feel if we start coming along behind one of your posts questioning if you know how to use your equipment? Again not attacking you just defending myself.

i can see your point, but also in his defense, to me it sounds like you're over-reacting a bit, everything we're writing is on the internet and searchable. if a real idiot (not assumed idiot) reads this thread and does no additional research, they could possibly hurt themselves. There's also a lot of advice on here, generally it's OK but some that may not be accurate/safe, so a reminder here and there about safety isn't a bad thing.

time for someone to come around with a kumbaya gif or something...

I was asking a question. You see those symbols at the end "?" those mean I don't understand something and would like clarification.
I asked the question because the picture appeared to be a climbing hitch that I am unfamiliar with, and one that looked to be configured with a tender so I wasn't sure if it was being used in another way. I wouldn't have even asked if it was in a prussik or autoblock configuration that I am familiar with but since it was in a configuration I wasn't familiar I was curious if he was using it as a third hand for rappelling or as his main line climbing hitch or in this case possibly both. Looking at the hitch some more maybe it just looks different since he has the slack pulled out of it; regardless, I was not chastising anyone. I was simply asking a question about a different hollowblock in a different configuration then I was familiar with.

In asking my question I learned two things. 1 this autoblock is rated to 18kn and 2. it could be used to climb or at least change position.

I've been here for a while but I surely don't know much more than the basics of rappelling and rope climbing. If I am ever asking @Brocky a question it's because I am intrigued and want to learn.

Also, this is brand new thread so there has been no talk "up to this point" in this thread about the intended purpose or uses of the hollowblock. So even though it wasn't my intention, someone could see the hitch he tied and wonder, "can I climb on that as main life support."

People come behind my threads all the time and tell me I am tying hitches wrong or climbing unsafe. It sucks, but I'd rather know if I am doing something unsafe or outside of the norm. If I am doing something risky and I have chose to do it that way then at least then I know risks and have accepted them.

Lastly, what are you defending yourself about, no one said anything to you. Brocky started the thread and I replied to it. If I was talking to you personally I would have replied to your reply and asked you a question directly.

I get your points and I guess since you didn’t mention him in your original post it felt like you were kind of coming at everyone who had posted in the thread in a sort of “holier than thou” way and I just wasn’t feeling that. I apologize for sort of calling you a Karen.

It’s the single eye Knut H, the sewn area works for a stopper knot, it is tight, just long enough. The double eye version came first, both are self tending, but can be improved with a tender.

Good to see another option for a backup while rappelling. The weave looks a lot tighter than the HB2 also. My son just tried the HB2 on Edelrid 8.9 pro dry and it would not hold well either.
 
It stays flat to give more surface contact with the rope. It is tubular, but doesn’t separate easily, I thought it was flat webbing at first.

A Blake’s works with the Trango so tried it with the HB2 and it held very good. Could only do three wraps but it seems to be enough.
