I have been using a Ridge Runner for 2 seasons and I really like the platform. I am a smallish guy (5'8" Size 9 boot) and I am a 1-sticker. I've been wanting to try out the Scout mounted on my Hawk Helium stick to cut some weight/bulk from my pack.

Question: I am mostly a leaner so the site says I should order the slanted version. However I am also so used to the flat RR that I tend to think the flat would be more comfortable for me to transition. Thoughts?

P.S. I have been waiting for DanO to get some more Hawk Straight in... he just got some Hawk Slanted and I'm ready! ;)

If your a leaner get the slanted version, you will be happy guaranteed, that little thing is comfortable

I just took this pic. I’m using my straight on a helium right now. I lean mostly and put my heels on the edge and my toes on the tree. I like having the straight for the times that I do sit though. DDABEA89-AFCB-4CD6-85B9-D772F83E9959.jpeg

Thing I do not like about the slanted is you can't stand up straight without holding onto the tree or hooking up a lineman belt.

How do you guys in the slanted scouts shoot your weak side?
I have a Predator that I run slanted all the time. I am a righty so I bring the bow over the bridge/tether (I did this year for a shot), or if the situation allows I will spin counter clockwise and that puts the tether running over my right shoulder and holds me to the tree. I can stand facing out on the slanted predator.

When I was trying to decide which one to buy the con I saw most often on other threads for the slanted was that it can be difficult to move to the side of the platform for weak side or drop shots. This is the main reason I went with the straight.

If you aren’t totally married to the Helium, you could go for the new Monarch from OOAL. Both straight and slanted in one.
