What are y’all using for a cushion on the tree for knee pain?

I’ve tried 2 different kinds of knee pads and my my knees are still hurting.

I’d like to do some all day sits in a few weeks.

Change position from time to time to rest knees or hips or feet.
Walmart has a Mossy Oak hunting seat cushion for $4.88. I used it once to supplement the knee pads and it worked great.
It also makes a nice pillow. :grinning:

During your all day sits, turn so your outer thigh of choice is against the tree. I did this the other day and fell asleep for an hour straight. A doe woke me up.

I did the same on Friday. I stood up from my right thigh against the tree and a doe was standing at the base of my tree looking up at me. They sure are sneaky. :grinning:

I tried something new tonight. A lone wolf seat pad with a 1x8 on the back side. The 1x8 gives it some backbone so you can put your knees on it and the seat pad gives good cushion.

Just need to get some kinda strap on it so I can secure it to the tree.

I use a cheap hand muff filled with some insulation for extra cushion. I'm a leaner most of the time but it seems to work fine when I need a break.

I lean most of the time but to take a break I use a cheap mossy oak foam pad against the tree to place my knees into or to hug the tree. It rolls up easily and straps to the bottom of my backpack.

I use one of those, maybe a bit thicker. It has the advantage, it also works when I straddle the tree.

I have tried knee pads two different kinds they are not for me I like a regular seat cushion lite weight just tie around tree with paracord

I’m not sure that comfort depends on brands or styles of knee pads being used. I have a pair of Arc’Teryx and they are great because they are not bulky and stay on well...but once I lean into them they probably behave like any other cushion between me and the tree. I’m in my 40’s with no knee problems but I still need to change positions rather often or I get uncomfortable.

Have an older Carhartt hand muff, thinking of using it and either filling the inside with small lightly inflated balloons or that small packing material.

I like the kneeling/seat cushion idea. Knee pads were obviously made for tasks where one is moving around performing various tasks. For our purposes, however, we are in one position for an extended period of time and the position of our knees when resting on the tree is always going to be the same. I’m happy with my knee pads but I may have to try that.

A few days in a row of rifle hunting out of the saddle has me thinking a cushion is going to be best for the long term health of my knees.
