Tree Risk Assessing

That house is the best deer blind ever

So... if there is a cat 4 hurricane begining of Sept and the dead tree doesn't fall I usually wouldn't hesitate to climb said dead tree couple weeks later......probably stupid idea but if it survived 100mph winds I don't think little ol me gonna matter much.

I agree with @BTaylor. I can't count the number of times I've been sitting in the woods on a calm, beautiful day only to have a tree (or top of a tree) suddenly crash to the ground nearby for seemingly no reason. Those trees survived the last wind storm but were still weakened enough to fail suddenly without reason.

Yeah... I'm not promoting. I thought we talking risk assessment

I never posted a pic hanging 8 or 10 foot in a dead pine but it's been known to happen

What gets me is when I see a tree downed with the roots that looks healthy, I think wow, I would have set up in that tree.
What is even worse is seeing a downed tree that I hunted out of for years. I always keep a heads up in the woods both when walking in and out and while set up.
