Tree Saddle Hunter Magazine………

I find magazines of little interest to me anymore - with all the info available on forums, Social Media, etc. I don't think there's any subject that hasn't already been covered very thoroughly....
Not all about the info alone, a book or a magazine is a different experience than reading the same thing on your phone or computer. I’m aware that’s how things continue to trend but am still disheartened at the number of empty bookshelves in our future.

I'm not talking about books - just magazines...I'm a big book reader.....

That company is financially involved in the production of the magazine. Smart marketing.

That is smart, but it’s a reminder of the sad reality that in many of these hunting publications gear opinions especially are biased at best and can be bought at worst. Not the same kind of objective take you may get on this site. Hard pill to swallow for a gear-based magazine that I have to pay for….

I’m confused… The outdoor sportsman group owns the magazine. They also own Petersen, Bowhunter magazine, the Florida Sportsman, and Whitetail magazine, and the outdoor tv channel.
Which of these companies is affiliated with them outside of being able
To purchase ad space or a product spread? I believe Jeff Waring is the editor for this particular publication.

**I started this post as a response to you and it merged with a post I started earlier as a general reply so I am sorry…..
I fully agree with all of what you said…

I am excited simply because our little niche has gained enough traction for someone to want to produce dedicated print media for it. I know this economy is bat-turd crazy right now with inflation, but I try to support most things that are saddle related. I am excited because as larger more tech savvy people or companies come in, the more likely we are to end up with truly innovative gear at better prices. I realize that is very optimistic of me, but if you had told anyone in the 90’s all the way until 2016, that there would be this many incredible options out for saddles and gear support (platforms, sticks, steps, ropes, backs….ect) most would have laughed or called us crazy. Regardless of how I feel about Tethrd, they are also responsible at least in part for this explosion. So if I have to shell out $10 for a magazine to support continued growth, I will do so. I don’t really sale anything via classifieds on here, but I will gladly continue to shell out money to be an upgraded member on this site as well even though Facebook groups are free…. I see those tiny things as part of supporting the community as a whole. I love that about this site, whether you guys realize it or not, by joining this site (especially paid members) you are doing more than you’ll ever know to help the saddle community continue to grow. Not all growth or innovation is good, but that is the beauty of us being selective on where our money goes.

5 reasons u should be a saddle hunter:
#1. Saddlehunter.com
#2. See #1
#3. Mobile, game changer, zero drag, blah blah blah
#4. See # 1 or #2
Don’t forget “run” and “running” - as in “I’m running the abc saddle this year” or “I’m running the xyz sticks this year” - - - said by a bunch of chubby guys that clearly do not run, jog, or otherwise exercise. LOL.

I would have zero interest in the magazine.
First off, we have this site so what could the magazine cover that we haven't already discussed (and sometimes beaten to death)?

Something else... I really like (or liked) our community being relatively small and comprised of people dedicated to share ideas and improve techniques.
We are now teetering on becoming yet another hunting "commercial industry" that will be driven by entities that care nothing about what we actually do, unless of course it's all about the $$$.
I honestly don't know where the line is.
I'm a capitalist and I believe competition is usually a good thing.
But I've also watched what has happened to "bowhunting". We've gone from bows in the 60s and 70s to now debating on whether air bows should be included in archery seasons.
Personally, the level of marketing in outdoor magazines has come to nauseate me. I'd venture to say that a substantial percentage of the gear today is driven and manufactured by executives that seldom step off of the pavement. And easily the vast majority of the stuff they market is made in China.
Gotta stop sending our money to them.
I subscribe to 2 magazines.
Traditional Bowhunter, and I mostly subscribe out of loyalty.
And I also recieve Professional Bowhunter but that's a benefit of being a member of PBS.

As long as there are no Dear John letters about scent lok it will be worth a look. Any possibility of a digital magazine?
