Anyone have information?
Hunting public land harford, baltimore, Cecil, Dorchester, counties.

I cant find laws against it, and they dont write laws saying things are legal. Anyone have any info?

Saying what IS legal is probably not going to happen. I have seen people here in DE using them on public, but they’re kind of in a gray area legally. It used to explicitly say “no spikes or spurs” in our regulations, but that language has been altered in the last few years to “no permanent damage to tree”, and only screw-in and bolt-in climbing methods are explicitly mentioned now as illegal, whereas the spurs have become ambiguous and I have not been able to find more info this year yet. I would honestly recommend calling the Game Warden HQ and just asking flat out.

@DelaWhere_Arrow that's a good call, I usually hike way in earlier than most folks and I'm having a hard time imagining anyone catching me climbing. I know it isnt the smartest, but I've never had a warden bag check me.

Also I would only climb heavy bark trees.

You should be good to use them.. The rule states you can not leave anything in the tree.

I hunt Harford county, Baltimore county, and Cecil county and used spurs last season, have had my license checked and never had my climbing method questioned.

The only place I know about that you cant is watershed permit property's like loch raven and pretty boy.. their wording on the permit states you can not penetrate bark, no screw in bow holders ect. . .

Great feedback!

I hunt all the same counties you may not use spurs on publlic land. I ask a DNR officer last season at Elk Neck SP he said no due to penetration of bark.
That's correct with elk neck it is a permit required and they have their own list of rules for hunting.
Maryland law is no items can be left in the woods, elk neck states in their regulations no nails or spikes ect.

Awesome looks like I might buy some spurs. Been hunting MD public since 1986 not close to the deer population it once was but still good. I remember hunting all archery season and may be once or twice running into another hunter.

If you want to try a pair before you buy let me know.. I live in harford county so it sounds like we are pretty close.
