Hi,

long time listener, first time caller lol

So after sketching a few ideas a buddy and I came up with a strap on step/ small platform... The plan is to use 2-3 of them for a ring of steps. It may be a complete failure but it worth a try. Let me know what you all think.

I like where this is headed! Can't wait to hear what @Weldabeast has to say regarding integrity. Looks looks like the design lends itself to nesting 2 or 3 together well.

I think you’ll struggle to get them tight on trees less than 10-12” in diameter. In bigger trees they may work well. Lots of surface area contacting tree makes me think they may slip slide and squeak.

Let us know!

I think they will nest well, they weigh about 1 lb each, and we will be using a ratchet strap to secure them the to tree, I’m hoping they stay put and don’t squeak much, I guess thine will tell. I hope to be testing them in the next day or two.

I dig it. Maybe round of the front corners and rough up the front edge for grip. Teeth in the back?

I was playing on the cad system and I think a 12'' tree will still work. But lots of things look good on paper. This is drawn with a 12'' dia "tree"

I like the idea of some kind of scallop on the front edge, we made 4 in a hurry last night so we could have them for a hunt this weekend. We are going to test and spray flat green for the time being and bring them back and make needed changes. I think we will end up spraying them with spray on bed liner.

Great Idea, I was going a little different on the tree interface, One solid leg in the middle with bolts through, Also I was going to try 3x6x 3/8" (just what I had on hand.

Only thing that might be an issue is all the force is being pulled to the side really loading the "legs" almost could benefit from some aircraft cable between the legs or something to keep them from being pulled apart, Aluminum fatigues when stressed to far over and over (like side loading) and could break.

Just some random thoughts..

1) How do you plan on attaching them?
- I'm assuming a ratchet strap which leads me to my next question.

2) How will you keep them from clanking together while trying to hand them?

**If these will all be presets, then question number 2 is irrelevant..

Ratchet strap. Our plan is to spray 2 of them with spray on bed liner to dampen the sound and the other 2 we are going to try dipping in that rubberized stuff like you would use on the handle of tools........ Maybe if they are still a bit loud I may try gluing on some small rubber so they can nest without making a bunch of noise. I think it will be trial by fire lol
