I just picked up a tree suit platform. For me the size is perfect and very comfortable for my feet. But.. it is pretty noisy when adjusting stance or if you were to move around the tree to take a shot. The noise seems to be coming from the contact point where the platform meets the tree. Im sure im not the first guy that has experienced this.. what is everyone doing to quiet them down? I thought about adding some rubber tubing around the short legs that contact the tree. I want to figure something out because it is so light and comfortable.. also i talked to the owner of tree hopper and he is a really good guy and stands behind his products. Im happy to support a business like that. I would attach pics but i havent figured out how to format my pics correctly so SH will allow me to post. The files are too big.
 
Screen shot picture. I don't have the aluminum tree suit. My diy steel version makes no noise. I use a ratchet strap?

I wonder if it is the slick paint.. im going to try something on the side that interfaces with the tree
 
The first tree I tried it on I didn’t notice any squeak but I let my buddy borrow it to see if he wanted one and it was pretty bad for him. So I guess I’m trying to figure this out too. I’ve heard people recommend skateboard tape across the back where the posts contact the tree.
Rubber tubing might work as well.
 
This morning real quick I taped some inner tube to the post. Silence...but it wore thru it in one three min hang. Trying to think of a longer lasting solution as well.
 
I’ve got a guy that does aftermarket work on trucks. I may ask him if he can spray some bedliner across the contact points. I think that’d just about eliminate any noise. Id still be open to an easier more DIY friendly option if anyone has one.
 
I thought about using a row of tapcon screws to give a little more space between the post and rougher bark trees but not sure I want to put any extra holes in the aluminum.

Rattle can stuff is miles ahead of what it used to be. What about trying rattle can bedliner? I thought about that too. Also maybe working on the teeth that bite the tree a little with a dremel cutt off wheel. Another idea is to use the 3m velcro strips with self adhesive. Use just the fuzzy side, and put 4 small pieces on each post, one piece of either side of the teeth on top and bottom of each post.

Plasti-dip might work and prob be cheaper.
 
The teeth are a littlr small, so you would have to work carefully with the dremel. Im also concerned about modifying it, then not being happy and then not being able to get a refund. Everything about it is perfect for what i need. Just a little squeeky

I think I’ll try the rattle can stuff first then. It doesn’t have to be bomb proof, just good enough.
 
I hit mine with some sandpaper and spray paint just around the edge that can contact the tree. Haven’t tried it since but really expect that’ll fix it

Just regular spray paint? And by around the edge do you mean the 1 side of both mounting legs that faces the tree?
 
My 1st suggestion to Mark was to put some adhesive stair tread strips on it...the stuff for making steps less slippy. He decided to put the serrations on instead. IMO, its the paint he uses. I think hitting it with some course sandpaper might fix it. Don't completely remove the paint, just rough it up. I don't own a Treesuit, but I have had one in hand for a few weeks. I tried it on 2 species...black walnut bark was horrible. Shagbark hickory wasn't as bad but it still squeaked a little.

If it was me, I might try putting a few hex head sheet metal screws in the tubing in several locations where the tubing touches the tree trunk. The screw heads should bite into the tree and keep it from moving. Probably 4 screws should do it, maybe two in the uprights and 2 in the horizontal piece of the platform. If it doesn't help, just remove them. The small holes won't hurt anything.

Im going to try roughing up the paint and adding some fuzzy side velcro. If that doesn't work, i may just do that. I have a bunch
 
I wanted to love the tree suit. I tried adding some Velcro, the soft side. I threw it back on the tree and noticed literally minimal difference. This thing was perfect size wise and weight but, there is no way I can hunt with that is noisy as it is. I'm so sorry
