Treehopper bit question

I just received my new tree hopper mini drill and a quick attach bit for my battery drill.

The bit for my battery drill seems to be longer then the one in the mini drill. This is holding side by side with the stops lined up Even. Is it suppose to be longer

I love the mini drill but haven’t tried the bit for battery drill yet. I may not keep it since I like the mini so much and it’s easy to use

Also what size shrink tube are you guys using on the 3/8 hex head bolts.

I have no idea on that but I don’t think it would be hard considering how easy it is to drill new holes. I’m really impressed with the mini.

I feel like I could be up a tree pretty fast drilling holes as I go. I can drill my first 4 from the ground.

I use 1/2" shrink tube that is 3:1 shrink ratio. I also grind just the tips of the hex points round so the 1/2" shrink fits on and covers the edge of the head. The bolts still have a knob on the end which I like. It only takes about 30 seconds on a bench grinder to round off the hex.
The 1/2" shrink works perfect for allen heads, but make sure you get the 3:1 stuff.
I use marine grade with the adhesive built in.
It works great.
My buddy tried cheap stuff from the hardware store...it didn't hold up.
And don't cover the threads. Just tube the section outside of the tree.

Call Mark at Treehopper and discuss bit length with him. He can address your questions. My cordless bits are the same I believe...I don't have them at hand to compare right now.
How much longer is the working end of your cordless bit?

Anyone have trouble pulling bit out of tree? Mines new wondering if that's why?
Are you cranking until the stopper sleeve makes contact with the tree? Keep cranking a few turns after the stopper hits which causes to drive tip to strip.
Every once in a while, the bit may be a little difficult for me to extract. Not sure if it's due to tree species or what, but I just reverse crank a couple turns and it extracts better.

A small percentage of the time. Near knots, limbs, some species more than others. For me, it seems that if I quit cranking as soon as the threads strip, I get my easiest removals. Mine is 2 months old with about 80 holes done.

Mine is most definitely about 1/4 a 1/2 inch longer. I know this because I measured and coated all my bolts and then when I go went to stick them in the tree after using the power drill they all chipped because the hole was deeper. Holding the 2 bits side by side confirmed it.
