I just thought I would encourage everyone new to saddle hunting who has made the switch from treestands to take time a practice shooting. My experience is that it definitely takes some getting used to. I thought I would share my experience.
I've got my bow tuned very well and shooting out to 80 yards with real good groups. I've always felt like I've had good form shooting out of treestands...making sure I'm bending at the waist. Ive practiced all my shots out of a saddle but only a couple feet off ground and shooting spot on. Well the other day, I thought I would start shooting arrows out of the tree at 20' in the saddle. For some reason I was torquing the bow bad, pulling shots to the right (the Garmin sight I have allows you too see your bow torque).
Over a process of elimination I realized that leaning back in the saddle really through off my form at steep angles. Through some practice, I'm back to proper form in the saddle and shooting bulls. But it was different FOR ME than treestands. Almost like I had to relearn how to bend at waist.
Anyway, just an encouragement to practice at hunting height, so you can check your form in the saddle and make quick clean kills this year.
