My “new” TreeSuit platform came in from Treehopper earlier this week. Finally got it on a tree today and I am VERY impressed. I’ve tried a couple different platforms in the past but ditched them all for one reason or another and went to a ring of steps for the last 2 seasons. They always made my feet feel cramped. I watched Nutterbuster’s video on the original treesuit platform and thought I’d give the new one a try.

This thing is super light and it packs really well. Solid on the tree and the perfect size. For $99 this is the best bang for your buck platform on the market now, hands down.

Agreed. So easy to sling over the shoulder for climbing and so quick to set up. I’ve been up the tree a few times with mine now.

I'm also a fan. I ordered three (one for me and two for buddies) and you can get the cost below $89/ea including shipping. Pretty damn solid platform.

I tried one of these a month or so ago. I really did like it a lot. LOVED the weight and was a solid platform. My problem is I couldn’t prevent it from squeaking on the bark of the tree. Maybe it was just the tree I was using. I should have given it a chance on another kind of tree I guess. Any of you guys have that problem? If so how did you solve it or are you not worried about it?

Did the one you tried have the serrated tubes or was it the earlier generation with smooth tubes?

The serrated tube version that I got didn’t squeak for me. May just be the type of tree. But tbh I’ve had a squeak problem with every platform I’ve tried. I think you’ve just got to find the type of trees your particular platform doesn’t agree with and avoid those.

I have the serrated tree edge. No squeaking at all so far for me.

Tree hopper swapped out my original for the one with the serration. As many have said they’re great to work with. The new one squeaked significantly less but still a little bit on one tree I tried. I’ve since hit it with some sandpaper and spray paint. I haven’t tried it again yet but really expect that’ll take care of it.

I swapped out the strap for an OCB and rigged it so I can strap my single stick to it and love the setup. Just a shade over 5 lbs climbing method and platform in a tight package for less than $150 (accounting for one stick from the purchased set of 3).

I absolutely love mine as well. I was in contact with Mark when he first went to the rounded edge design and was able to grab one. To be honest, it is my first platform and I feel no need to look elsewhere! Stable, light as can be, plenty big. Love it!

It was the serrated tube version. The teeth bit into the bark adequately. I guess it was just the bark of the tree. Still bothered me though if that’s what could happen on some trees. Don’t really want that as a potential issue.

Yeah... I just don’t really want that as a limitation. But you’re probably right.

Mark is awesome to work with. Though I didn’t really want to get rid of it, he did let me return the tree suit and pay the difference for a crotch rocket. That thing is the cats meow! Can’t use it in every situation but it is flipping awesome where it does work.

For the price the tree suit is really awesome. I have another platform now but I may have to just buy another tree suit again just because it’s so cool.

I have the OOAL Ridge Runner and have never had any kind of a squeak problem on any tree on the first one I had or the one I have now.

I do think I need to give the tree suit another go sometime though.

I know that the serrated tubes helped the issue but I don't think it was the best solution for the squeak. The serrations helped lock the stand against the tree better, but the IMO, the squeak is being caused my the type of paint against the tree. I could be wrong but I'll bet a strip of the adhesive stuff for slip prevention on stair treads would fix it.
I'd mentioned to someone else to fill the tubes with spray foam and they said it helped deaden noise. I've not tried that on the Treesuit. I did fill LW sticks with foam and it really helps deaden any metal contact noise.

I agree with you about the teeth helping but not completely solving the issue. Cool good to know about the sound deadening. I did see that here before, maybe from you actually. And yeah the paint or coating on the platform is probably causing most of the squeaking. Thought about spraying some bed liner on it before or some kind of coarse coating like that. Maybe will try that if I get another one.

I will probably do the spray foam thing. It’s light enough that a little foam won’t make it that much heavier. I will end up with another one before the end of the season to have as a backup. I think with all the new platforms hitting the market right around the same time the treesuit got lost in the noise.

My concern initially was the non-folding design but it packs up just as well as the folding models

I’d like to see one sent to OOAL for a powder coat.

That’s a good idea. Forgot that was an option with them. Even just powder coating the back of the legs would be awesome I bet for the squeaking.
