Not trying to stir up anything, but was curious if anyone on here knowshow someone fell out of a Treesuit and caused the company to shut down. I have a Gen 2 Treesuit that I used this past season a couple of times for the first time in several years and it got me to wondering how someone fell out of one. As I was sitting in it I kept trying to figure out how a person could fall out if they had it on correctly and set up correctly. I feel much safer in my Treesuit than in a climber or a lock on. I plan on using it much more in the seasons to come.

I had had heard the same thing mentioned. I don't know anything about it but am curious as I have made a DIY version. I have never seen a Gen 1 or Gen 2 live and in person so I all I can go by is pics of it. The link below is to an ad it seems and looking at the pics it appears that the safety belt at the top is tethered onto the tree with a separate line. Maybe this was added after the accident (Gen 2)? I have messed with mine at ground level and intend to use it in conjunction with my harness as it already has loops for a linesman's belt and can use it to tie in a back up. Based on how it is set up in the ad looks like it would be tough to fall out of it IF used properly. Don't imagine it would be comfortable hanging from a belt but would beat the heck out of falling and the accompanying sudden stop at the bottom. So far I really like the concept.

That is the Gen 2 Treesuit, which is what I have. The safety belt as you call it is not that bad if you get it adjusted right and it also serves as a linemans belt when climbing the tree.

I have been hunting ouy of a Gen 1 since 2002 and have no idea how you can fall out if used properly! I dont even use the rope from the waist belt once set up i only use as a linesmans belt due to how much noise it makes twisting on tree! I also just fully modded my second one that i had laying around and cant wait to get hunting out of it!

Thanks, from the pics hard for me understand anyway how the main strap works. Here’s what I am trying based on a thread here. Hooking the strap under the insert via a carabiner to a tether. Would attaching the top strap to the carabiner via webbing be in line with the original? From messing with seems it could use some back support and that seems like it would help.

Used a gen 2 treesuit for years and I think the only way to fall out of one is using it incorrectly, although that in itself is hard to do. I couldn't fall out of it if I tried.

original did not have a "bridge" each side of the strap under the seat went up to the tree, where a strap with "d" loops was and it was fed through to "squueze" the tree. SEcond strap around waist just went to a safety line you gith hitch around the tree.2018-06-24 14.19.03.jpg

I believe the issue was the person did not double back the waist buckle, so it "could" slip....
