Trophyline

Big Al, Do not feel STUCK with your TL Ambush saddle. It is the OG of saddles. The new saddles are realllly nice but not a necessity. I have been hunting out of mine since 2006. Cut off the suspenders and leg straps. Grab a 11mm static line for a tether and a 9mm for lineman belt. Two ropeman 1's and a big fat aluminum carabiner. Now your ready to kick assss

Thanks for the input! I've got to get a ropeman for sure! Debating the leg strap cut off. Why remove the shoulder harness? I'm sure that you have a good reason.....I'm not sure if I've run across one yet.

Never felt like I would fall out of my saddle to need the leg straps plus they catch on steps etc.
I carry my lineman belt and tether on each side of my saddle and it doesn't fall down. So no need for load bearing shoulder straps. Also 2006 saddles (I think) and up had elastic straps that stretched and wore out. 2005 saddles (I think) and down had load bearing shoulder straps. So if your loading it up with weight then I guess they are handy. Before I cut them off years ago, I would remove them while I hunted anyway. It's all way works for you.

If you have the elastic shoulder straps, cut them off. Replace them with tool belt suspenders.

Some of the tool belts have pockets on the suspenders. Sometimes handy...

I’m a “if it’s not broke why fix it “ guy and have been hunting out of one for about 12 year. The only thing I changed was getting rid of the elastic choulder straps and custom making some from 550 paracord.

BigAl,
I have used Trophyline for roughly 20 years. The ambush model was the least desirable for me. Tethrd has introduced a mesh saddle without the discomfort found in the ambush. I recommend you give it

Might I ask what are the main issues between all the different trophyline models you had especially with the ambush?

For me the ambush was uncomfortable because there wasn't enough enough mesh between me and the webbing that makes up the frame of the saddle. The neoprene and leather models have always been perfectly comfortable because they are thicker. If the TL had been shaped differently, maybe not so tall, more people would have loved it. Make sense???

I didn’t like the diaper feel (and we all know I both KNOW the diaper feel and do NOT like it #crohns )

Ok. I'm giving it a shot this fall. I may be very uncomfortable. I'm so busy that I haven't even practiced but once. Just to much going on this year. Hope to find some time soon. Shot my bow once also. Whew!
