Turkey Vest recommendations

1st time ever for me turkey hunting this year. I got a ALPS OutdoorZ Grand Slam. Tried it on today and found it uncomfortable. I think its the built in frame making it uncomfortable and you can remove it but its why I bought it why it costs what it costs. So Im going to push through with it.

Had I known about it I think I would have went with this

I wonder if you can buy just that forearm rest. I think thats a genius idea..
I have the grand slam. used it all last season and where it really shines is when you dont have a tree to lean back into. I can bury up in a pile of brush or in some thick cover and lean on the kickstands and be ok. Cons: its frickin HEAVY. the box call pocket is a little short for woodhaven calls. the clamps on the posts can fall off (alps sent me new ones right away for free, great customer service IME)

TTT - who can recommend a great vest? Who can recommend a vest that’s awesome for turkey AS WELL as an early season vest for deer season?

I’ve got money to burn and critters to kill - please advise!

I just ordered this for bow season - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073TRYS6D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. They are not made any longer and probably will never be available again soon.

I also just bought this one to try for gun season - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Primos-Gunhunters-Vest-LARGE-MOSSY-OAK-BREAK-UP-65707-GUN-HUNTERS-VEST-CAMO/311497865629?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I didn't really need either of them as I like my Ol' Tom Essentials for both turkey and deer - https://www.drakewaterfowl.com/coll...l-tom/products/time-motion-essentials-vest-20, but figured I'd try something different next season.

Also I know this is not a vest but I've been using Beard Buster Ground n Pound Seat System, https://sophuntinggear.com/product/beard-buster-ground-and-pound-system/, for 3 years and love it for ground hunting deer and turkey. The fact that I don't need a tree with the Beard Buster is great, and the system has all the pouches/pockets/bag you need, and it is not as expensive as some other similar seats ($85 caught on sale on Amazon).

Good luck.

I just got a knight and hale ring 200 and I am stoked about it... I find if there’s more room in my vest, I take more stuff...then never use it... only other one I was considering was the Alpz Long Spur deluxe but it was like $40 more and they were either not available or they didnt have the pattern I liked

Looked through your links, and I couldn’t help but notice the Beard Buster Ground n Pound Seat System is advertised as a turkey system, but has a photo of a dude holding a scoped centerfire rifle. Gotta love it when the marketers/photographers don’t know diddly about the product they’re shooting. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Super Helpful! Thanks so much!

Cabelas Tat’r has been good for me. Good room and comfy. Plus a nice seat that I use a lot in other stands/blinds.

This is the turkey seat I will not hunt without.
Turkey seats like this one played a HUGE roll in allowing my young sons to remain rock still and be successful when they were on their first hunts 5 years ago and still do today.
None of us will hunt without our Browning (Alps) turkey hunting chairs.
As far as vests go not a single vest out there I like under $120+ so I bought a $50 Midway USA vest two seasons ago after my last vest wore out. It's OK but not great.
Am going to give that one vest made by Knight Jeremy D posted a link to a serious look through
Looks to me might be worth the $$$

I bought an Alps Impact Turkey vest off WOOT! last year for $34.99 just to give it a whirl. To my surprise, it is perfect for my needs. I it has a chairback with pad that works great. Just unbuckle the vest and plop down anywhere, even without a tree to lean against. There is also a "run-and-gun" component to the vest. The front right call pouches unbuckle from the rest of the vest and you can use it as a sling pouch to grab your calls and get moving on birds. Having one season's worth of heavy use, I couldn't be happier (especially for the bargain deal!).

I just received this vest and I think it looks perfect. I have had a few and they have never been quit right. The seat is easily deployed and stowed, no reaching around your back or having the magnets fail. The game bag is adjustable and will hold a couple dec's or a turkey and the pockets look like they are pretty well designed. We will see how it hunts but first glimpse is pretty favorable.

Thanks for the suggestion
