Use a clove hitch to attach quick link triangle to SRT rope?

Experimenting with SRT and rappelling. From zero height.

Do I use a clove hitch to attach the quick link triangle to the rope? Another other knots I should be thinking of? I’ll be using a Mad Rock Safeguard. I’ve used WE steps to get up and down with the use of linesman and tether thus far.
