Using W/E stepps as your ROS

I’ve been practicing with my wild edge stepps and noticed it was a little difficult trying to cam over and set the stepps when using them as a ring of steps. Is there a video or anything that might help me out or any tips?
I should clarify the camming the ones on the sides are the hardest.

I have noticed that as well. Its just a angle/leverage thing. I have thought about connecting my bridge so I could swing over for better leverage but have not found I need them crazy tight to work well

There is a video somewhere. I know WEI has one on their website. It’s not terribly difficult as long as you’re not set on having them on the same plane. I do one on the right. Tie it in front of you then turn it to the side and cam over. Then do the same on the left side on the same level as the right. Last is the one facing you and I tie it just lower than the two to the side. It’s not as simple as a platform or ros on a strap but easy enough.

I love my WEI stepps, this video is not me, but just a comparison of a couple ROS and using WE stepps for that which you might find usefull

when i've been setting up my stepps i've just used two on either side of the tree and that's been enough for me to just use for practice, not sure how well that will work for longer sits since i haven't been able to do any long sits yet.

they work great as a platform - but they are a pain to set - the cam then spin is how WE shows to do it, you will not get them perfectly level so don't get hung up trying. Most trees two is all you need - when doing 3 you have more rope from the other stepps to avoid putting the step points onto. It's best to have the two side ones a bit higher than the middle one. You will need to be patient setting them. Once set I can run around the tree on them, but I have found a predator to just be faster and just as effective at a similar weight - I lose a little range but the setup ease offsets it more so for me

I have the same problem, hard to cam over the left and right ones. I feel it my angle to it. I only put 2 steps for my ROS and my last step going up to the ROS is less than a foot from the ROS giving me a middle step for moving just a little lower. Next practice climb, if I remember, will do what @EricS and @pesqimon suggest and tie step cam it over in front of you, uncam it and move to where you want it. Thanks for the idea.

When you cam it in front of you and then turn it to the side you usually have to grab the tag end and pull just a little more rope through before camming over again.

Using the WE steps as a climber/platform is great. Camming in front of you first and then flipping to the side is the best way. I tried to make a platform with more than 3 and found it really difficult to put them all on without having a stand off on a rope. WE has a video on how to do it but I found that a longer tether to bridge connection can get you around most trees.
