Versa Button Placement on Sticks

Is there a consensus on what the location should be for the versabutton on a set of sticks?

Wondering about the mocked up locations shown below if I were cut the stick off just above the upper step?

 
Those look like APIs. I was able to use existing hole when I cut the sticks to 24”. I can’t remember which direction I started from but the placement was very similar to DIY Sportmams 24” stick build. I think mine are a little over 10” down from the top. No issues with mine. They work great.

Yes, they are API. Maybe I'll try them at that location, can always move it if needed.
