Want to get away from rubber boots

I know you said you wanted to get away from rubber... But I got some steplite x with the Yoder chaps. Those things are more comfortable hiking the my lowa & danners. Not to mention they grip like a mountain goat. I added some orthotic insoles & they're perfect for hiking. The lightweight chap folds down & I just tuck the top in. Packs down real tight & no rubbing. I still have the tingleys with yoders but the steplites are in a totally differant league & still weigh less then my danners or lowas. If you go this route from conkeys add 2 inches to the inseam length even though the suggest not to.

Muzzleloader season I had a pain in my toe and when I inspected I had a stick pierce thru the bottom of the tingley and stab my toe. So I pulled the stick out and ordered a new pair when I got home. They just got here the other week and the tingley has had a little redesign....the tread is deeper and the boot is a little more sporty like a sneaker feel.....however..the old pair that 100% has a hole in the sole doesn't leak...Screenshot_20211217-201554~2.pngScreenshot_20211217-201544~2.pngScreenshot_20211217-201533~2.png

Good to know. Thanks for the update. Looks like a big improvement!

kyler1945, my experience over the last 25 years says this statement is incorrect: "gaiters won’t keep water out of boots besides a step or two." I've walked through knee deep water that was 20 yards wide and kept my feet and legs dry wearing a pair of gaiters. The only time my feet get wet is if the water is significantly higher than the top of my gaiters.

That said, if I really wanted to keep my feet warm and dry without extra gear, I'd buy "duck boots" with felted wool liners. Good down to temps well below 0 F, quiet, waterproof and generally more comfortable (for me) than hard soled boots. Unfortunately for the OP, they're also rubber.
