Possibly .... but judging by their conduct I'd have to guess they were actually the ones who stole it.How fast would they have left if you pulled a face forward running rappell down the tree. @huck72412 did you ever stop to think they were trying to assist you in finding your tailgate.
That's unimaginable. I'd definitely rather get pelted with rocks.Reading these stories really angers me! I think I can make you feel a little better about your story though.
This past October, the biggest buck on my property (high fence) went missing. I’ve got cameras everywhere. Finally and the end of October I checked one camera that I had not been to in a month or so. Below is the picture I got. I think this is a neighbors kid but I can’t prove it. The next pic is the 5.5 year old buck he is dragging.

In Michigan he could and should be arrested for hunter harassment which is illegal and in forced.Another anti hunter just wanted to mess up my hunt so he ran his beagle around my tree after he tracked me in. But he had the right on public land to do so.

I completely agree. Ultimately it is just not worth escalating the situation. And on top of it, in the end the anti's will find a way to turn it against us and make it the hunters fault.Unless you can prove to a judge and/or jury why you thought your life was in danger, this is probably not going to work out well. A claim of "rock thrown" even with a bruise is not anywhere near archery or CCW equipment on the use of force continuum. The legal system and media would love to throw guys like us in jail and toss the key in this situation. I don't like it but that's the way it is. Unless things are going terribly bad it's probably best to let the other guy throw his temper tantrum. You make the call to authorities, you sign the complaint, you get to continue hunting.
ETA: episode 1094 of Survival Podcast has good discussion of this with Masaad Ayoob: http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/tag/massad-ayoob?fdx_switcher=true
