No welder, no perch stability....no problem. Time will tell but I believe I found a fairly cheap fix to stability issues with the WEI Perch. It’s not pretty but it’s functional and all you need is a map gas torch and alumaweld brazing rods.

I plan to take my perch to work and do some mods. Adding some aluminum weld maybe some plate to lock it completely down to the step.
 
It has worked great thus far.
Here are some updated pics after some light grinding and some paint:

I wonder if you welded another crosspiece near the prongs to stabilize the step, instead of modding the Perch, if it would also solve the issue? Seems like it would from when i had mine.
