As of right now I'm 20 feet up a tree and both of my climbing spurs are on the ground. For the first time I decided I would take them off and lower them to the ground instead of attach them to my back pack like I always do. Needless to say my quick knot I tied came undone and they are on the ground along with my rope. This has been my biggist fear Sence using them lucky my buddy is one ridge over and at 10 is going to come throw me my rope.

Good thing your buddy was close! Imagine being way back in and having this happen. I like having two ways to get down.

Time to implement a back up plan. Without help you could have been in a bad situation.

So, was thinking of giving the spurs a a try in the off season. Assume your buddy was not there, whats your approach to get down?
You carry rappel stuff with you?

I would agree. I have had a couple situations develop this season in which having a rappel setup in my bag has saved me a fair bit of heartburn.

I hunt climbers exclusively. I’m pretty sure I could use my predator to one stick down. It wouldn’t be fun and it would take a while but I’m pretty sure I could do it. Only have to lower the platform to a hight that’s low enough to jump.

Had this happen before. I ended up bear hugging the tree on the way down.
