Well it finally happened

Couldn't you just use your platform and do a one stick method decent? Take awhile but you would get there.
 
Rappell kit is a must and learning knot and hitch tying are invaluable.
 
A small two prong grappling hook in pack - tie to back up haul line - pull them back up.
 
My friends would have done way worse! Glad he was there though.
