Well, I've Got Some Good News And Some Bad News

I retired in 2013. Since then, I’ve worked more than I did while on active duty. I hope you have the opportunity to do it better than I am. I have two more years until I can “check out” and actually retire.

Funny story ... I’m on vacation right now. I haven’t been off work for this amount of time since 2009. Being on vacation is actually hard to do for me. My future plan for “retirement” involves homesteading. Working for myself.

Best wishes to you for a great retirement.

Mike

The bad news is, it's the 8th day of Michigan's archery deer season and I've only been out once. The good news is, today was my last day as a regular working man! Tomorrow I start life as an old retired guy!
Just remember to stay busy, even if it is mowing your own lawn and maybe cleaning your elderly neighbor’s gutters. My wife’s grandpa is 92 and still stays busy, I only hope I live to be his age, much less still bow hunting, driving, and loading corn bags and cement bags!!

Congrats Ricky! Enjoy it to its fullest. Hopefully I'm not too far behind you.

I have a friend that I hunt with a couple times a year and he is 72 years old and has been retired for the last 8 years. That’s exactly what he does to ‘stay young’ he keeps busy. He hunts or fishes 3-4 times a week as well as takes care of his place. In fact 2 years ago he went on an elk hunt. I hope I’m in half as good a shape as he is when I’m his age. Enjoy your retirement, you’ve earned it.

Congrats Ricky. Hope you're able to put some extra time in the saddle now!

Congratulations, Mr. Racer! (gotta show respect for old retired guys)
