I popped a buck this morning. 15 yards. Quartering away. Pretty standard. I’m shooting a 605 grain arrow. 75 lb bow. I shot for the off side leg. Broke the tail end of the arrow off. I’m guessing it went through the deer and hit the sapling on the other side as he ran because it popped out the nock as well. It broke the off side leg on the way out. So what’s the best glue? I’m guessing this one tore out as he ran or hitting all that bone and tree knocked it loose but it freaks me out nonetheless.

The penetration on that little tiny sapling is pathetic

I use hot melt and haven't had a any issue with it as of yet....before I started using the hot melt I used the GT glue and it holds real good....I suspect most glues will be sufficient. The prep work to the arrow and insert with play a big role on how well the glue bond works. I scuff up inside the arrow and scuff the insert giving the glue little crevice to work into.... acetone clean before gluing,

Nice deer!

What kind of glue did u use to begin with? The glue ring cuts on the insert don't look they have any glue at all in the photo

That’s what this was actually.

Dang, we’ll I guess I’ll follow this then. I haven’t had any issues though. I shot through a pig and buried a cutthroat into a log. Took ten minutes of pulling and wiggling but the insert held.

2-part epoxy so I can spin test the inserts with the broad heads and get a true spinning point before it sets

Gold Tip - for inserts and fletchings. No issues. But about to experiment with hot melt on the next set.

J-B Weld 50139 Plastic Bonder Body Panel Adhesive and Gap Filler Syringe - Black - 25 ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IBOK7FE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_q8lPFb0T0RVS6

Works on carbon fiber. Ranch Fairy approved. I used this on my build this year and have not had any issues. Includes putting an arrow through my trash can while practicing (whoops) and also breaking the exit side humerus on a buck two weeks ago. Inserts were still perfectly intact.

Bohning Ferr-L-Tite or (Hotmelt). No issues for years.
