I run a standard prussic with a DanO keychain style tender and it tends perfectly. My trick is to 1) tie my prussic in such a way that it is long enough to meet my tender on the rope when I pull the tag end without having to slack out the length between my carabiner and my LB and 2) I lean into the tree as I do it to take pressure off my LB just long enough to snug it up. What tends to happen is that as I lean forward and create slack in the line, I take up that slack by tending my rope.

I'm guessing the OP is trying to tend while maintaining full tension on his LB. Is that correct @scottprice?
 
All the above, could also try making the prusik diameter a bit smaller, can't tell exactly from pic but looks a bit big.
