What are the preferred boots for Saddle hunters?

Been rocking Lacrosse Aeroheads since they came out. Have been a really fantastic boot all things considered. They don’t breath terribly well, but are still plenty warm. I have worn them for just about every cold weather activity under the sun: deer hunting (saddle, blind, ground), Turkey hunting, ice fishing, fall and spring fishing, late winter and spring scouting, snow shoveling, playing with the kids in the snow.... just a work horse of a boot. I’ve put many, many miles on my aeroheads.

For deer hunting I like to pack in an extra pair of socks if I know I will be sitting a while and change them either at base of tree or on stand. That extra pair will be a lifesaver. I also recommend sizing up on them if you plan on wearing the for cold weather sits.

This year I’ll be giving some danner pronghorns a whirl for doing some tracking in Michigan’s UP. I know I can put the miles on the aeroheads but I really want something a little more breathable and supportive and the pronghorns fit my boats perfectly.

Also keep an eye out on Midwayusa.com o think I picked up my last pair of aeroheads for like $45 or some ridiculous clearance pricing. Also can find them cheaper in eBay.

I like a vibram soled hiking boot especially if I have aiders on my climbing sticks, I feel the boots hold better and don't flex as much

Im 5foot 6in the 18in aero heads dyg into my calf in a sitting position, just a heafs up i may try the 16in high version

I like something with a good heel and fairly solid sole. I tend to lean, and hook my heels over the edge of my platform. With soft boots, my feet bet sore.

I like the big heel to keep my spurs in the right place when climbing.

Keep in mind if you use an aider with climbing sticks, you want a boot rigid enough to step into aider and lock toe into tree bole for the step up.
