I put several items pertaing to saddle hunting on my Christmas list. Hoping my bride got me a BWMG platform pack for my TL EDP, along with a Tethrd roll out pouch and padded straps. Our daughter is hopefully gifting me with a TL rangefinder pouch to go on the pack and some Latitude Amsteel daisy chains for my new Beast sticks. I suggested a new Nite-core headlamp to our daughter-in-law and that would give me a pretty nice setup for hauling next fall. I won't know about some of it until later in the week, as we are traveling down to Florida to visit our daughter's family.

How about you folks?

There is a Sladder under the tree for me. I have been pretty content climbing with bolts and an aider the last couple of years but seeing @kyler1945, who I know shares my opinion on bolts speak highly of the sladder pushed me over the edge to try one.

And I almost forgot there is an EDP under there too. I was checking into the support thread to laugh at the people who bought more gear when I saw someone mention EDP’s were back in stock and on sale. So the support thread cost me another $150, or saved me $50 depending on how you look at it.

Nothing. This is because my wife knows I’m super picky about my setup. If it’s anything to be she’ll tell me to buy it and she’ll wrap it and throw it under the tree.
I get it. Everything I am getting was selected with direct links to the websites and such, so there is no 'surprises' in regards to the particular items.

Oh yeah, I also asked for a boat strap from Amazon to use the OCB for an ROS I have in the works.

This is how my gifts get picked/wrapped every year. :tearsofjoy:

I can say though that there isn't any "saddle specific" gifts this year. I'm pretty happy with my current setup (+ backups) so I can't think of anything else I want to add or try so far this year. I know . . . BORING! :tearsofjoy:

I’ve been eyeing a sladder & an endorsement from @kyler1945 & @redsquirrel is pretty solid since they hunt deer not trees & don’t climb for recreation…….. waiting to hear what you think after you get healed up

My setup is pretty well set, I don't think I've been on the EWO website in over a year. The Sladder does interest me, but I have nothing saddle related on my list.

Nothing for me but quite honestly I don’t even know what I’d have wished for. However, under (beside in close proximity) the tree is a 3D buck target for my son. He’s asked for one since about 3 days after he got his bow last year so I’m thinking that is going to be a pretty big deal for him and I’m a proponent of getting him things that encourage him in outdoor activities. Win win.

I'm hoping for a heated vest, heated socks, some early season boots since the walmart ones I have make my feet ache, and a camo lunch box/pouch since the one I have is blue and apparently deer see blue the way we see neon yellow lol.

Anything else I need/want I usually buy throughout the year, and send a small list to the wife when she asks what I want. She will send me random things throughout the year and what I don't get at the time I will throw on a wish list for her so I can remember what she wanted lol.

Most of what I want is “too expensive.” I know I sent my wife a link to Waldrop and a few other ideas. Even though one of my gifts for her is basically the same price as a Waldrop. I’m pretty sure she did get me some new arrows for my xbow. I sent her the direct link and the nock style. Otherwise I just got a new Pioneer saddle and an EDP for myself.

I’ll take a punched tag for Christmas. Time’s running out for that though.

Not saddle specific, but a 10 tray dehydrator and jerky gun.
Get the jerky gun and you can use the oven.
I wished for and got this new monster sized iPad im on right now! Love love love it!

I did get the arrows, Dragon Claws. Also got electric hand warmers, a Meateater cookbook, a Tactacam Reveal, and a UA Ridge Reaper Windstopper jacket. As far as hunting related items. I can’t complain. Now I should actually try to kill a deer.

Let me know how you like that. When I tried making jerky with my new dehydrator, it seemed to have extracted all the flavoring. It also made the gamey taste a lot more pronounced. I was probably doing something wrong though lol

I used a LEM jerky gun + LEM seasoning and an Amazon dehydrator.

Appreciate the kind words fellas! Merry Christmas!

I am confident the sladder will cost me a chance to get in a tree and kill a deer at some point. But as a new dad trying to maximize efficiency and risk reduction hunting on public ground, it fits in well.

I’m also confident it’s much like the JX3, in that me not understanding why more people don’t use it, is an indictment on me not them. I try to meet people where they are and use their logic and reasoning to talk through their perspective on an issue. And if asked how it applies to me, offer insight on my thought process. I suck at it though. I just think some things ARE, regardless of folks feelings and thought process.

Anywho, I used the sladder to climb a dozen trees and set cameras, and another five times to hunt.

I met one tree I couldn’t get in(and the only way up was SRT, and no chance I get in it without spooking the deer by sight doing it). It was on the hunt I shot my contest buck. The tree I selected and climbed worked better anyway.

I didn’t use another method. I killed 3 deer. One from the ground.

I didn’t fuss, fight, fiddle. Just got up and down dead quiet, with minimum 3 points of contact, in less than 3 minutes each way for the “climbing” portion of getting up the tree. I spent less than a minute on each end to pack and unpack and deploy the method to climb. It weighs a pound.

I still think it goes right back into the “makes no sense” category when you move it a third time and incorporate rappel gear. But for getting to 12-15’ it’s on par with bolts/aider for me.
