What do you enjoy doing now that the season is ending?

Start scouting immediately and get tinkering. When I’m not at the boys shooting practice or tournaments or the girls dance competition

Ohio's ML season is January 7-11 and then back to archery until February 5th. I've shot a couple, have meat in the freezer, but still have a 3rd tag that may go unfilled.
I'm already winding down and getting my ILF Hoyt Satori ready for 3D archery. I'm looking forward to next year's season with this bow. General calisthenics to stay in shape for the shoots and tree climbing.

Boy your season runs late, I would think alot of bucks get shot with no horns.

It's a possibility and something you'd have to watch for as a deer was approaching.
I've never had it happen, nor any of my friends, but I've read about it happening in this State.

Sleep in and drink my morning coffee at a more leisurely pace, then head out for post season scouting in areas I haven’t been. Trails are getting beat out with all the leaves down for a while so now is the time to ID and mark them for next year…deer will use them again next year.

Getting ready for my hunting buddy due in March. I will also do some mountain biking and quality family time with any free time shed hunting and running cameras for next season.

My deer season doesn't end until the end of March, then turkeys are right around the corner. I have a very short, hot off season before archery starts again the first weekend of Sept.
Where does season go until March in Virginia?

Scouting season until May or so. Burn some boot leather checking out new and old places. Mess around with some trapping to fill the time. Then mess around with turkeys a little but I'm a very casual turkey hunter, just never got very into them. A lot of cooking and putting up food in the freezer to eat during busier times of the year. Looking forward to fishing, mostly walleye mixed with some other stuff from ice out until deer season. I don't ice fish that crap is for the birds. Get all the honey-do projects done when the weather is too crappy to do anything else.

Hard water fishing is my favorite outdoor activity. Climate change ain't helping with that though.

Now I've found one thing that you and I don't see the same, or at least pretty similarly. Oh wait, you don't like watching college football either, right?

No I like CFB! I think I would like ice fishing if properly equipped. The few times I've done it have been pretty ghetto rigged, hand drill, no shelter, freezing my buns off and catching miniature panfish. If I could sit on a couch in a heated trailer drinking a beer while I was jigging, now that I could get down with.

I hear ya. I was stuck in that suck for awhile, and it is miserable. Now with a modern drill auger and a reasonable pop up shanty with a heater (plus some fancy electronics)...and plenty of beer, I'm in heaven.

when deer season ends one my best friends and i have a tradition of a "non-traditional" goose hunt. one of the WMAs we deer hunt is in the middle of nowhere in middle tennessee - not waterfowl country. but this particular WMA borders a 19 acre private lake and darn it if the goose don't fly right over your head as they're comin in to land on that lake. the WMA is completely over grown (like man tall thickets) with just a couple of walking paths cut so theres great cover. we bring lawn chairs and snacks and hang out cut up starting maybe an hour and half before sunset and we'll usually get 2 or 3 groups of geese fly over each afternoon. sometimes we don't hear them coming and don't even get a shot off. its really just an excuse to still be outside with a gun in hand before the doldrums hit between end of goose/small game season and start of turkey season.

Put four beaver sets out today. These are two of the four. My wife’s uncle has them flooding out his only access road to his back 70 acres and the other two are channel sets on a different property. I’ll get paid for the one property I do it for free for my Uncle in Law.
