What hunting related stuff did you get as gifts this year?

If you crank them all the way up and are within a couple of feet from them, you can barely hear a noise. But you can't really tell what it is.

I usually hunt with mine maybe on 15% volume. I've had deer and hogs and ducks within 20 yards and they showed no sign of being able to hear it.
Interesting. That would really mess with me hearing whatever and any surrounding sounds and watch game come in but try to remember they can’t hear what I’m hearing.

I shot a small 8 point last year while listening to a Sam Harris podcast. Shot the buck at 8 pages on the ground. Never turned the headphones off. Didn't have time to make movement before he was all up in my lap. He was oblivious anything was wrong.

I'm all for the sounds of crickets and crows and all that...but sometimes it's nice to learn a thing or two while I'm staring at tree trunks

Pair of Tide-We boots, TL Mission, and a new release, same as my old one but it shoots different so will have to use it all summer for next year.

That is awesome. Oh yeah for sure. I almost have to listen to something while I’m out there too most of the time anymore. I just put 1 Bluetooth earbud in and leave the other one out. These take it to a whole new level though. Might have to look further into these things. I can see myself using them all over the place, not just hunting.

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you still hear deer walking in on you (or do you?) I can't hear well as it is so I guess this wouldn't be much of a loss for me.

That is my biggest concern about using any type of ear bud or headphones. I rely on my ears a lot hunting.

My AirPods have a “transparency” feature that I have seen on other high-end phones with noise cancellation functionality. This amplifies ambient noises while still filtering out wind and other “white” sounds. I watch hockey and mma while hunting sometimes, I can hear a squirrel shift 75 yards away but the wind doesn’t interfere with the commentary lol.

What about direction of sound? I hunt with some older guys that have hearing aids and they complain about not being able to tell where the sound is coming from like a deer walking.

Your ears aren't covered with bone conduction headphones so you don't lose hearing.

It's really kinda weird at first. Almost like voices in your head. The sound is there, bit it doesn't really come from anywhere.

It probably depends on quality. The AirPods are stupidly expensive and I would never have them if they weren’t a gift, so quality is high and directionality is pretty accurate. If movement to my 5:00, I’ll hear it in the “back” of my right ear, 9:00 sound’ll be “centered” on my left ear, etc. 6:00 is a bit of a toss up because both buds will pick it up and amplify it but it still sounds kinda “behind” you if that makes sense.
It’s awesome when I’m alone with my kids because I can hear which room they’re in while I listen to stuff on my phone.

ever since I got in to saddle hunting it's been christmas all year. It's hard to separate what was last year's gifts vs. this year's. Since my wife didn't get me anything this year I wrapped my most recent camofire order that had some HME stuff (handwarmer, digital scale 7 robber coated wire) plus some game bags for my deep woods kill kit. Was gonna wrap the pop up 38 but I don't think she realizes it's new and I didn't want to bring that to her attention.

For reasons I won't go into here... All my hunting "gifts" were things I bought for myself lol. But I've decided I want to figure out winter and hot tent camping, so I got myself a 0degree down bag, decent pad, hot tent, and a stove. Not specifically hunting related yet, but they are to set up for hunting trips. I had plans to test out the bag in our recent cold snap but related to those things I won't go in to... That didn't happen, will begin to test in January and post results for information if it goes well or laughs at my expense if not.

What model Woods Saddle @BTaylor?
The size 2 original. Havent been in a tree with it yet but it seems like it will work really well. That boy knows how to run a thread injector, really clean construction. Of course I will fix that once I start modding it. We are still supposed to mod our new, barely out of the box stuff right?
