What is it about saddle hunting

At the beggining of the season I was dead set on using my lone wolf assault. I have been wearing my mantis saddle as a safety harness and I find myself turning and facing the tree. What is it about saddle hunting that keeps drawing me? I want a lone wolf assassin or trophy line mission to give this saddle thing another go around but of course there is none available. Anybody else went thru this never want to saddle hunt to keep coming back ordeal?

Say what? I guess you like the idea of the saddle keeping you from falling, and you like your Lone Wolf stand. Try using the Lone wolf seat as a climber. It's my favorite way of climbing .

Wondering if maybe you’re trying to hold onto the tried and true way of hunting elevated which would usually be in some kind of traditional tree stand or lock on. The fact that saddle hunting, while not really new, is still kind of all of a sudden new in a mass popularity sense in the last couple few years and just seems to be going up in popularity exponentially.

With riding the title wave of something “new” I feel can be somewhat tricky from a mental aspect and sometimes hard to get your head around often for reasons you can’t really explain or put into words. I know I’m like this with a lot of things in life. It can be hard to just adjust and make the change and usually there’s no real defined way to explain why.

For me, if I feel myself going down that road of struggle a little bit, I will basically try to stick with it (if I really want to) and step back a little but then kind of try and find a zig zaggy way into the new way that feels best and/or makes sense most to me. It’s often never what “the masses” are doing but some close flavor of it. I know very vague and somewhat philosophical but hopefully it makes some sense in some abstract way anyway.

I would not use a saddle as a safety harness if I didn’t want to saddle hunt. Problem solved

See you in a tree, Ricky
I've come to like no shoulder incombrences. The saddle is a little more packable and good to put actual weight on it. Ill stick with my old way for now, but wouldnt mind to use this saddle tool a little more.

You come back to it because of the sheer bad assery of it. It’s the most ninjaist way to hunt. All bs aside it’s more comfortable and way, way lighter. Well, for me at least.

Each there own, it is just another tool, in the box. But like few others said, after few "stand sits" you will be back.

I think it's a good tool in the box. However, I don't think it's the be all/end all for every situation.
