A sled
A hawk deer crawler... anyone tried this
Or anything else

I have a couple sleds that work well in cat tails.

Has anyone tried that Four wheels hawk cart

I prefer a pack frame and some game bags, but I also use carts and sleds for the short stuff.

I take all my stuff back to the vehicle and get the deer cart. Mine isn't anything fancy so I imagine the good ones are real nice. I couldn't imagine dragging 200 lbs over a mile. The pack frame might be the way to go if you're efficient at quartering in the field and what not. Only thing I'm not sure of is how much you can get the weight down if you pack it out? That would still be a lot of weight on the back I would think?

Even a big buck you really wouldnt have much more than 60lbs I wouldnt think. I've been training this summer with about 50 on my back and i'm 100% sure a quartered deer on my back would be WAY easier than dragging one lol. I'm gonna give it a try this year even if I don't have to drag far just to get some practice at it.

I'm also set up to start packing them out now if needed, but I've pretty much tried everything else and if I'm taking a deer out whole a sled is the easiest way IMO.

I weighed my buck last fall after it was deboned. I had 105 pounds of boneless meat for the freezer. So that is a lot of meat with the bone out.

I was looking at the hawk cart which has 4 wheels and wondered if it would be easier than my sled.

I'm still dragging, but I do have and use a cart. Its just a 2 wheel cart and not the easiest thing to use. They are a little better with 2 people. I have been seriously thinking of packing out this year only if I'm far from the truck.

Good grief what did that sucker weigh on the hoof? Lol. I didn't weigh what mine was deboned last year but it was a good bit. He dressed right at 200 which is a big deer around here. They don't get much bigger than that in this area since there's no ag at all.

I've looked a lot at a pack wheel. http://www.packwheel.com. They aren't cheap, but with a boned out elk or deer quarters it looks like it would work really well. Especially if you have a trail to work with.

I did not get any other weight but I guessed well over 200. A taxidermist friend said he was old but his rack was nothing special
