What kind of rope are you using for rappel?

I have C-IV, Canyon Elite, Rescue-Tech, Ultra-Tech, Bluewater Dominator, Oplux and a couple others I can't think of the name of...
The Ultra-Tech is my favorite for a rappel rope.

Phantom 11mm, it seemed pretty stuff at first but broke in well. I'll be looking into something smaller when it's time. I may switch to predator only because purple/green or pink/black aren't exactly incognito

I hated ultra-tech at first but once it finally broke in and loosened up it was great.

I don’t think it’s spliceable so it wouldn’t get Brocky’s vote. I don’t think (gotta check) that it is water resistant either.

Strength, cut and wear resistance, weight, flexibility, compatible with hitch or device, visibility, and water resistance are some of the things to look for, would be nice if one rope checked all the boxes.
Brocky, this should be your profile picture. Haha

Canyon CIV to 8mm Resc Tech then right back to the Canyon CIV which it turns out while BARELY larger in the bag, way easier to manage than the resc tech which likes to twist a bit more when trying to drop from tree. The Canyon bites better in the SafeGuard and figure-8. I didn't care about being out of spec with the resc tech, but it doesn't work AS well as the Canyon in retrospect.

It’s spliceable and one of the few where the cover can also be buried. No stitches or whipping was needed as the cover was tucked into the core strands, locking them in place.
The core has a coating on it that stiffens it until used.

What!? No way. I thought I had read you said that it wasn’t spliceable. That must of been a different rope. Thanks for sharing.

The only negative thing I remember would be not to use it for a bridge, due to the Technora core.

Yep...40 feet of 8mm resc tech works really good for me too with a safeguard
