What kind of rope for hanging climbing sticks?

I'm going to modify my Leverage sticks and add a versa-button. What kind of rope should I get to replace the cam buckles? Going for reasonably price over weight savings...i.e. didn't want to spend the money on Amsteel. Not overly concerned about weight, just hate how loud the original buckles and hooks were.
 
Would the Wild Edge replacement ropes work? I could just splice a loop.
