Hey guys just getting some final opinions before I make the leap. I’m going to grab some spurs to practice with this offseason so I was wondering what y’all like the most. I’m not in the oil business so the budget would be $350. Thanks

Aluminum climb right spurs are what I use and alot of others are using. They are around $240. You will want to put quiet straps on them as the velcro is loud and not hunter friendly.

Yeah these seem to be everyone’s go to inexpensive option. Do you sue the tree or pole gaffs?

Tree gaffs

Pole gafs are easier to use and from what the guys at Wespur say, pole gafs are what you need 90 percent of the time. Tree gafs (longer) are sometimes needed for trees with deep bark cracks. Tree gafs on most trees make using climbing spurs more difficult. Shorter gafs (pole) = easier climbing.

I picked up a pair of carbon geckos with the tree gaffs for $480. I'm going to do some mods then see how it goes, I may convert to pole gaffs.

Spent 1 hunting season on spurs, used pole gaff until late in the season when I bought climb rights with a tree gaff.. I could not climb as well with the tree gaff at 1st I thought it was a practice thing so I practiced for like 4 hours on all different kinds of trees got somewhat comfortable with it then tried my buckinghams with a pole gaff again and it was just so much easier and so much more solid with the pole gaff..
I bought replacement pole gaff for my climb rights and am happy with them

I find pole gaffs much easier as well. I love my Gen1 Geckos with the short gaffs on them. Very easy to climb with them

Last year was my first year with spurs, and im not counting decades ago using those sportsman things, they were the worst.
I started with tree spurs and struggled. Changed out to pole and i am very comfortable. I should put the tree ones up for sale. Climbrite alum i thing they are.
