What the heck, Texas...?

I try to get out and scout... I really do. But, when Texas tries to kill me, I stay inside.
Also, notice the forecasted temps in the next week. They don’t look fun at all. I can’t even keep the garden alive with daily waterings at this point.

I almost dragged my son out to prep a site with me today, but decided that keeping him from getting dehydrated and interested would be a little too much. I’ll have to wait for a day when the wife is off so it’s o let me out in the heat.

That’s crazy... I’m in Mississippi and we only working with the 95-100 range here... and that’s bad enough.. working outside in this heat is about to kill me though. Perks of having a wife that’s a nurse, she’s bringing me home an bag of fluids and gonna give me an IV tonight. Makes you feel 10000 times better! I drink at least a gallon of water a day and about 3 big gatorades in between, but I sweat so dang bad it still seems like it’s not enough. I feel bad for y’all Texans that are in the 100+ range.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say 100 degrees isn’t hot as Satan’s genitals, but i stayed in Vegas for almost two months(quite a few years ago), and it was over 100 everyday for three weeks straight. I can remember the thermometer reading 115 and in the shade, it didn’t feel all that bad. Now when you walked out into the sun, you could literally feel your skin cooking off... it would be 110 but seemed to feel 85 because it was so dry. Here in Mississippi, the whole south for that matter, we will have a day that’s 98 but a 115 heat index because of the humidity (and y’all know that’s a heat you can’t escape from in the shade)... another thing that sucks about this heat is in the afternoons, about 3-4oclock, it will rain for about 20 minutes, then the sun comes out, and the humidity sky rockets. I would take the dry 110 day over our southern 95 any day... I know you central/east Texas fellas know what I’m talking about. I’m gonna invent a silent dehumidifier that runs off batteries that I can carry with me on those early season hunts when it’s still in the 90’s.. when I do, I’ll hook all the southern boys up with one haha. But seriously, you guys in that 110 range need to be careful, nothing to play with.

Ya, if it was as dry as Vegas, this wouldn’t be so bad.
We still get the humidity here.

Yeah man, a lot of people don’t understand how thick humidity makes the air and ya can’t hide from this crap haha

Especially with humidity between 30% and 90%...
we had scattered showers last that never really came to be... but, that pushed the humidity to 80% at 102°. That’s just wrong.

That’s an absolute horrible feeling. And the older I get, the more I hate the heat. In the winter, you can always add more clothes. In the summer, you can only take so much off before people call the cops or you get kicked out of Walmart haha

It has been a weird summer.

Unfortunately, this isn’t weird for us.
Above 110 is a bit unusual in July, but this kind of summer happens probably a 3-4 summers out of 10 here in Texas.
We were lucky enough to get 3 wet, mild years the past few seasons. Gross scores will definitely hurt in comparison to the last few years.

Hope you Texas boys catch a break soon!

With every passing summer, I think a little harder about moving north. Anyone know of a church hiring in Yankeeland? LOL!

On a serious note, I hear Montana is nice...
