What treestand is this and is it worth fixing

I have basically that same standing hanging in a tree right now. I'll take a different opinion to others. Assuming the rivets are in good shape and the base of the stand is sound, I would use it. The cables look fine and aluminum doesn't rust. However, I wouldn't use it as a treestand. I'd take all of the old seat material off and zip tie the bracket straight up and out of the way. Then add two ratchet straps to the post and you've got a great preset saddle platform. Put it on public land if you want and don't worry if someone steals it (You'd only be out $5 of ratchet straps).

That looks just like an API stand that someone stole from me about 23 years ago (in southern MN). That was the best thing that happened to me as I started saddle hunting after that and no longer had to hunt out of that loud thing.
I had the same thing happen to me with a ladder stand. So glad I don't haul those around the woods anymore

Not a bad idea. The platform has some spots that are wore through but they might not be structurally damaging. I do have plenty of time to mess around with it before season wouldn't be out anything other than dirty looks from the wife for the "trash" I'm keeping in the garage

Went out and did some scouting today and saw this bad boy hanging in the tree. Went home and got a hacksaw and cut it out of the tree. It'd been there for a while as I had to cut the chain off and cut the top bar out of the tree. I already removed what was left of the carpet and seatScreenshot_20240225_221532_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20240225_221524_Gallery.jpg

I unfortunately sat in one those stands years ago, and it was probably the most uncomfortable time ever in a stand.
My ass and upper legs hurt and the seat was too close to the platform, it was only good as a "standing platform".
The original owner figured that out and left it in the tree.....

Your first stand posted is an API AL100, as others have said, they made the AL50 and 100, I had them both back in 1992, the AL50 was the lightest tree stand I ever owned even compared to the stuff of today, I cut the safety harness up to make shoulder straps for it, it took extreme focus to kill anything out of it, just a little bit of movement at all and the rivets would pop and snap, sounded like a .22 going off, in cold weather it was almost impossible to shift your weight at all on them quietly. Those stands saved a lot of deer.

I have 3 of those with the expanded metal decking in the shed from years ago. They are lightweight especially if doing the amsteel mode and a little sketchy if not set properly.
