What would you do if you couldn't hunt?

We're all here because we hunt. Specifically, we hunt from a saddle while suspended from a tree. I'm interested to see what activities would fill your time if you found out tomorrow that you couldn't draw a bow or pull a trigger?

Have you found other, non life-taking activities while on your hunting journey that you'd continue in? Would you still spend time in the woods? Would you continue sewing? How about other obsessions that you've placed on the backburner since you began hunting?

@Nutterbuster would spend all his time on a kayak and continue harassing squirrels with King David-like stone slinging skills. @flinginairos would climb telephone poles and continue to get up early attempting to crawl into bed with odocoileus virginianus. @Blinginpse would find another outlet to model undergarments. @Darmstrong1223 would start a side job as a seamstress (err... tailor).

Personally, I'd buy an RV and take my kids on more road trips. I spent a good bit of my time riding a motorcycle prior to hunting and I might go back to that too. However, prior to SADDLE HUNTING, I never imagined that I could have so much fun climbing a tree and rappelling back down again. So I may continue in that also!

I started woodworking a few years ago, it's a hobby I really enjoy even though it can be frustrating at times. Woodworking often gets pushed aside because time spent with the wife and kids, working around the house and scouting/hunting take most of my free time. I occasionally get to fast track a project if my wife wants it done!

Ummmm Nooooooooo.

Hahaha yes I did the sewing for the household but I have dabbled more now. I took a sewing class back in the day (10th grade) and enjoyed it so I tinkered every now and then. Grandma taught me how to crochet also. I like to tinker with things that involve hand eye coronation/fidgeting.

Depends on what "cant" means. If it means it's illegal, I think theres a 50/50 chance I go full Robin Hood and poach the king's deer anyways.

Otherwise, the only reason I can contemplate that would make me hang it up is injury. If I was too injured to drive myself out to the woods, walk out, and sit on a bucket with a rifle, well...

There's one really dark solution to that. If I made it through the slump, I'd probably spend way more time reading, writing, playing my Martin, and probably pick up painting like my great grandaddy.

Red,

I'd be so busy doing other things... building custom leather bags, making fedoras, remodeling houses, trying to be a chef and doing a lot more sewing. I'm building out my workbench area now and looking for an industrial machine so I can start making my own camo and packs. I try to be a renaissance man but there isn't enough time in the day...

Good luck this season!

This is exactly what i was getting at! Where would you put your time if hunting wasn't a thing. Thanks Nutt!

BOOM!! Fedoras!? Sign me up to buy the machine! :)

I would shoot more than I do now. Probably 3 gun a lot. Other than that I'd put a lot more miles on my can ams and get better at this new kydex hobby

I’d probably go crazy, I used to fish a ton and don’t do much anymore but I still enjoy it.Golfibg doesn’t do anything for me anymore either

The idea of 3 gun always appealed to me. But it's another gear buying hole that I'm not ready to go down.

Kydex hobby?? Do tell us...
