I need a pair of soft shackles and was looking for recommendations on a vendor that sells quality amsteel or dyneema soft shackles.

Look up the guy from Michigan on Facebook. There's different ways to make them, depending on your needs. Pretty simple

That one says not to use for climbing purposes, if they don’t trust them enough to back them, I wouldn’t trust them either.

I wouldn’t use a soft shackle for climbing or weight bearing at height. When I need a carabiner I’d only use a climbing rated biner. I assumed he was asking to be used for hanging items and using in place of a biner. They’re fine for weight bearing for hammock hangs but I can’t see any soft shackle maker endorsing for climbing purposes.

Anything specific you don’t like about them for life support? I use them frequently to replace carabiners and sometimes as a hitch cords to eliminate the carabiner.

Here is an interesting video I saw a few days ago. Settled my concerns on brummel lock splices. These tests are with 1/4” Plasma not Amsteel. I would not have expected a Soft shackle to do this.
