Which release?

I use the buckle on my spot hogg. Way better than the noisy velcro and if I put it in the same hole every time (fifth) nothing changes. If I put it in hole #4 its too lose and my anchor point is further back.
figured, mine now is a buckle and I like it but not everything is created equal

I have a Stan shootoff that I really like but used a spot Hogg wise guy wrist strap for hunting this year. I didn’t want to worry about bumping my release off my d loop when reaching for my bow and the open hook on the wise guy made it quick and easy to get ready for the shot.

I’ve been thinking about upgrading from a Truball Max Pro 4, I like the swept style of the Stan Shootoff, and the adjustability. Did you ever hunt with the Stan, and does it seem the trigger would be easy to bump and drop from the tree? I’ve never once dropped the Truball.

Like most have stated carter and stanilowski probably the top handheld releases on the market and for good reason...

I’ll be ‘pulling the trigger’ on a new release soon, and it’s probably going to be one of these brands... are you aware of any feature that makes actuation and falling off the D loop while in the tree less likely?

I switched from wrist to hinge last year and won’t go back. The only negative is I have to hold onto the release when hunting. Carter honey

I used it for a whole season (2018) and never had a problem. It's a great release but I always felt like I had to be very careful removing my bow from the hook. This was my first year hunting from a saddle and I didn't want to worry about gingerly removing my bow from the hanger. With all the other changes I made already I figured shooting with a wrist strap would make my life simpler. Grab bow, hook up, draw. It worked out for me this year but at the same time it would have worked just fine with my stan as well.

Highly subjective preferences on this topic. I switched from a wrist to thumb release last off-season. It takes time but I’d never go back. I bought a Nok2It and a Silverback. They’re designed by John Dudley and they go together. SB is a pure back-tension release to ensure proper form and is great to train with. I highly recommend if you’re going to switch. The Nok2It is a thumb release for hunting. Check out Dudley’s training series on YouTube. It’s excellent.

Remember, for diehards, there is no off-season, only training and scouting season.

Yeah I have been following him for a couple years now and this will be the third year I go through the school of nock, I go through it at then end of each bow season which is Feb here. I shoot 100 arrows a week on average all year long so I am always shooting, thats not a problem at all. What do you like so much about the thumb release vice the wrist?

Yeah don’t hit the trigger lol. Sorry but I don’t know of anything special other than to make sure that jaw closes completely. I’ve learned to be careful when clipping release and also I always have a backup in my bag. Ask me how I’ve learned... lol.

I’m thinking I bite the bullet and try a Stan. Worse possible case I could sell it on classifieds they hold value. I bet it tightens my groups up a bit. Toss the Tru Ball in the pack as a spare.

Tru Ball Max Hunter Pro 4 Release has been good to me for many years. Never liked having to wear something attached to my wrist so keep this connected to the d loop year round. Feels easier to draw with and gives multiple anchor points of your knuckles to face. And like mentioned earlier, I carry a spare in my pack.

Shot a few different releases this weekend and ended up going with the spot hogg wise guy, it shoots super smooth and works perfect for the back tension release. The only thing I dont like about it is that I have huge hands and its on its last hole for the buckle, we will see how that works out
