Who changes tactics/style from Archery to Gun Season? How?

I definitely share the allergy to other hunters. So much so that if I am in an area i thought was pretty remote and I find a boot track in the mud I wont come back to that spot that season its dead to me.

That being said, seeing as i am constantly trying to find out of the way or otherwise hard to get to spots devoid of human intrusion to bowhunt my strategy doesnt change at all and often times these spots see more deer crammed into them once the lead flies.

I will say, back when i was younger and less experienced of a hunter i did hunt areas where you could count half a dozen blaze orange blobs around you once daylight broke. One morning while walking in along a dyke i did have some jackass use his scope to eyeball me at 100 yards to see if I "was his friend" he was waiting on. Maybe a pair of Binos would have been safer??? I also once shot a tiny buck, ending my season because as it ran up to me its front leg was flopping around and barely attached so it was clearly hit. I back tracked its blood trail to a couple of guys and asked if they saw the buck and shot at it. They said they sure did and I happily informed them I put it down so they could come take it seeing as they wounded it. Their response, "oh that tiny buck we dont want that thing its too small you go ahead and take it". So why TF are you shooting at it!!

So your theory about not having bad encounters because you simply arent running into people may hold some water as I myself havent had any since ive become allergic to other hunters out there.

With a rifle, I don’t have to get close and booger up a spot. I can hunt off the spot, maybe that’s 50 yards or 200 yards. I can cover several trails instead of putting all of my eggs in one basket. I don’t even climb a tree. Bring minimum gear. Don’t worry about scent as much. Shoot them while their nose is up in the air trying to find me. Just sit on a hill side. It’s my wind down time, relax, glass, zoom in, pull the trigger. That all depends on the terrain of course. If it’s thick and I will be close to my target, I’ll just bowhunt because it is much more thrilling and rewarding to me.
