Jury is still out for me.
Then perch is about as light as a pop can. It's super light.
I'm getting better at installing the steps. Hard rough bark trees like mature red oaks are providing me some difficulty as it's hard to get both stand offs to engage at the same time. But I'm getting it.
I'm a full 225lbs. And my testing has been at the base of the tree w/out my saddle on. So the perch/step is taking all of me. I imagine once I get the saddle on, and let it take some of my weight, that things will improve. But when the step is locked in solid, so does the perch. I do get some rocking in the step, but the interface between the perch and step is always solid. No play in that, and it seems that as I put weight to one side or the other, that the perch bites into the step even tighter.
So, in closing, the tighter the step, the better the perch. Everything will hinge on how well you secure the step for the perch.
I got my steps and the perch at the same time, so I'm still very much a rookie when it comes to installing the steps. I can already tell that the volume / compactness of the steps and perch will be very beneficial for my setup this year. I am keeping my lone Wolf sticks, but I am dedicating this season to getting familiar and very efficient with the steps.
