Why is it

Why is it that there's always something more to buy hunting related. After 22 years one would think they would have all they need for hunting.

Heck I come on here and suddenly there's another thing I didn't know I needed.

Well, it's usually want and not need. A lot of things make it easier and increase your chances, but there are plenty of people who made do with very little.

I always get a kick out of old hunting camp photos where everyone is wearing plaid shirts and hats. Now, I wouldn't ever go out without head to toe camo.

For me right now it’s a bush rag ghillie. I don’t have a ghillie, why should I go another season without it? But do I need it?
You need it brother! Can't kill animals without a gillie. Seriously, no need, but it is fun and can help keep you from being busted on occasion. I love my bushrag.

I am the same way. Im always hoping for a comfortable saddle to come along for a large guy, always looking for easier ways up a tree and other misc gadgets.

I want to use it for going to and from my stand ya know? I think it will help a lot and I also have a few spots I’m really excited to stalk. But it’s like 70 with shipping and I’m trying hard to draw a line with the spending. I agree though, it would be a game changer. Especially for the early season which for me is sep 15!

I just picked up a rancho safari shaggie for this season. Psyched to try it out!

I have been wanting one for years and it seems to always fall to the back of the want list but might have to suck it up and get it!!!

I think I'm actually just getting more picky and am able to spend greater amounts of money at one time. Kinda figured out what's gimmicky by now and just invest in the good stuff or put away for a trip or as I like to call it......an experience.

That being said, lately I've bought daisy chain, double steps, sit drag, RCH, webbing, carabineers, D loops, and traded for Ropemans, tethers, etc. But I'm figuring out what I like.....lol.

I have said it before....the justification with the wife for saddle hunting starts as a cost savings argument quickly pivots to safety - then after you wear that out in year 2 you just negotiate budgets LOL. No fooling her anymore.

I do well ignoring the gimmicks. But there's always something I find myself needing. I haven't found a pack that I really like yet and I've bought several. If I ever slow down in the shop I'm planning on making my own. Which leads me to wanting a better sewing machine.

Then I shoot my bow and think how I'd like a press and tooling to restring/ tune.

First really cold day I'll come in and look into better clothing and boots. Somehow always buying a new something.

It goes on and on. It's not as much about the money as some odd adiction to not being fully satisfied.

I thought I was the only one. Its a weird addiction to constantly buy gear. Im hoping one day I will find contentment.
