Yes 3d printed. I hear you on the weight. For me, I think the best option to have a few steps in my pack and a set of short sticks.

I lived that they fold away for storage. Would love a set of aluminum/plastic foldable steps as long as they were rigid enough.

Yes, the nice thing here is that all the rigidity comes from the metal step. The plastic portion is almost entirely supported.
