Has anyone used some Wild Edge Steps with a 5 step aider as a climbing method? I’m looking to try this method out. I’ve seen a YouTube video where a guy used a carabiner and a loop of Amsteel to attach the aider to the step.

Definitely my preferred method of maximizing step placement. EWO sells them or the stuff to make your own.

Also check out the Cain method

And the modified Cain method.

All from guys on here too I should add!

Thanks. I’ll look into that. I’m only 5’6. I’d like to only use 3 steps.

I did 4 stepps last year with a boogie woogie aider and a knaider. Very fast....but a bit scary coming down so I'd suggest rappelling down. Easy to undo yr stepps hanging by a rope. Also if you use 1/8 inch amsteel instead of the regular WE rope it makes the stepps lock much much better and is alot less bulky.

Yeah I’m definitely going to rappel. Do they make the Amsteel to work with those steps?

You have to splice it on yourself....but it's very easy and the 1/8 amsteel is cheap.

Are there any videos out there for doing this mod

I think so... search boogie woogie aider... I just made one out of carbon fiber (leftover airplane bits) copying the wooden one.
However I now do 2TC and only use my WE stepps on a small private land parcel that is preset to the best 2 trees.
IMHO you can beat 2TC for how little you need to bring in the woods and how easy it is to get up a tree even with branches.
I am using every spare moment to actually hunt but have been wanting to make a video after I get my deer.
Best wishes.

What is 2TC?

The answer to the desire for minimum stuff to carry into the woods. I use my 40' canyon civic rope as my main tether and a tethrd tether as my foot tether. With rope friction hitches. My homemade carbon fiber platform the size of a mission that weighs 2 lbs, and (future) 3 pioneer steps.
Hand muff, small water bottle bag for drink and snacks, and my bow. I can climb any tree and easily beat my friend who 1 sticks. I ll post my favorite video, but you've gotta look up 2TC in the forums there are really good and fun threads about it. .....
Now I want to make my own video.....
