Wild Edge Stepp Ladder Gen 1 vs Gen 2?

I thought I read somewhere that there was a difference, some say "Stepp Ladder by wild edge" on the crossbar and some have a patent number. Is this correct? And one is better?

I have some of the older tan ones and some of the newer grey ones. In my opinion the older ones seem to be more robust
 
I have the original, older, ones. Bought right from Jim Stepp. I haven’t seen the Wild Edge ones, but would,think they are similar. Mine weight a little under one pound each.
