Will a buck go back through were he was shot before?

Headed back to the farm in the AM. Where I hit that buck but never got him. It's been almost 2 weeks. Do you think he will use that same trail again? It's a good funnel between the Marsh and a hill there. If not him there may be others that run it. Just curious if anyone has had a second chance from the same spot.

Personal experience, it can happen. But maybe not during daylight hours. Happened to me with a buck just last year. Saw him on cams - but only at night after that.

Nighttime seems to give nocturnal animals security. Learned that as a youngster trapping.

I shot a buck in the shoulder last year on November 1st Tracked for 3 days and never recovered. I figured he lived, found him dead on November 14th 100 yards from the stand. He had lived for a week at least and circled back through

I one lunged an Ohio buck about 20 years ago. I saw him one week later from the same tree less than 30 yards from where he was standing when he was shot. He seemed like he was going to recover just fine.

I shot a buck 2 years ago with a rifle and never found him. Hunted that spot a week straight and killed him the last night I was there. A year later I shot a buck with my bow, tracked him 5 miles with 3 blood dogs, and saw him in the same food plot a week later. Both of these were 2.5 year old bucks so I can’t say if a mature buck will but I would guess some will

Yes. They do come back around. Pretty sure I killed him this morning. I hit him high right across the back. Could have sworn that was white hair on the ground. Either way. He is dead. Opposite side of the tree. But got him.
Good to hear. Got my fingers crossed for one comingback next time I"m in stand as well...thought its rifle opener, so someone else might get him...

I shoot one this year at the end of August. Hit him high and Forward in the shoulder. He was back at the exact same spot I shot him on camera three days later But it was at night. I kept the pressure off and went back in October 7 and killed him. It doesn’t happen like that often but it does happen...

Last weekend I shot over the back of a giant... he ran off but didn’t seem too spooked. I’m going to hunt that same spot this weekend, hopefully he comes back around.

pics or it didn’t happen

Shot a buck off the ground one year. Low & forward hit. Blood trailed him for a mile. 2 days later on the opening morning of rifle season I killed him after I rattled and he came running. Hope you get him.

How much time between shots?

It had been 13 days. First time was Oct. 30, and then again the 11th there. Based on all the tracks around there, I probably could have done it sooner. But the weather was to warm. I was waiting for the cool off. Up my odds and increase the chance of a different one as well.
