Windproof vest recommendations

Ive been considering adding some sort of windproof vest to my layering system. Any recommendations?

Not what you asked....but these things are a great, wind blocking mid layer and add a ton of warmth for their thickness. I'll often pack one in and put it on under my jacket once on stand. I got one on sale (for like $25) and there are cheaper options among windshirts. You could remove the sleeves and have a pullover vest.

If you’re made of money, get the Sitka Fanatic Vest. If you want great quality at a reasonable price, get a Drake vest (on big sale—never pay close to full price on their stuff). If you’re cheap, get a non-name-brand wind proof golf vest from Walmart or wherever.

I never settled on a vest last year, so now is the time! Haha. Are those Drake vests quiet? And almost a year later, any other recommendations?

I just bought a first lite catylist vest. Not quite here yet, so I can’t say a ton for it yet.
but… I did use a first lite ridge line pullover last year, and a kuiu 240 wt 1/4 zip (can’t remember the name)fleece that is wind proof.
Both pieces are awesome, I think that windproof material allows me to carry less layers with less bulk and weight.
that first lite ridge line is like my favorite outside shirt of all time. That thing is light, and the wind blocking is on point.

I’ll add the ASIO Gear vest to my list above. Got one as a gift and absolutely love it. My Cabela’s Wooltimate vest cuts wind great too, but it’s heavier and bulkier. Lastly, Carhartt work vests are awesome if you want to use it for non-hunting purposes too.

Mine is quiet and was warm but not too warm if that makes sense.

My vest has the sherpa on the outside and it collected so many thorns, burrs and sticks that at one point it was almost unwearable. I would recommend sherpa lined instead.

Also not going to lie wearing a brown sherpa vest during season made me a bit uneasy.

Natural Gear has a fleece vest with windstopper that I wear a lot. Much more budget friendly but also a bit heavier than the sitka stratus. Also have the jacket and pants in the winterceptor fleece that I wear late season if it is going to be cold and windy.

Agree nat gear goes overlooked. They make good products

I’ve looked at their stuff before and liked the pattern. I’ll take another peak, thanks for the responses.

I use a berber fleece vest with wind stopper from Cabelas. It's outfitter camo so it's a little dark but it's super warm. When it's real cold it goes under my Natgear jacket.
I like my berber fleece as well but for layering I would go with something thinner like the Sitka Stratus. I use my Cabelas berber vest all the time but I do use it as an outer layer being that its a little more bulky. The Drake vests are really nice as well.

A couple reviews on Amazon make it sound like the quality of Nat Gear isn’t as good as it used to be, has anyone bought anything recently?

I have long seen and heard people talk about the lighter weight stuff not being of the highest quality. Never heard anyone complain about the quality of the wintercepter fleece. The fit isnt as tailored as say sitka but it also isnt $349 for a jacket. Trade off's. My fleece set, jacket, pants and vest are 10 years old and still going strong.

I ran the NG Winterceptor pants for a number of years. Super high quality pants. Kinda wish I hadn’t sold them…..
