Work/Free (hunting) time balance

I’m at an 8 to possible 9. I am not tied to my office and I get 160 hours of vacation time a year. Plus my company shuts down (paid) for the last 2 weeks in December thru New Years. As long as I’m reachable by email or text, I’m all good. Both kids are grown and gone and my wife hunts too. I have no complaints or issues finding time to hunt

I’d say 10. My schedule is pretty flexible. My work and hunting happen on the same military installation and I live 10 minutes from the office...well these days it’s 10 seconds.

With that being said they canceled turkey season due to Covid. Deer season is on. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I would say a solid 8 maybe 8.5. I work 12hr rotating shifts on a five week schedule which translates to every week and a half I have a long stretch of either 8 or 9 days off in a row. During the work week I have a couple of days off to transition from working days to midnites or vice versa which I those use to hunt. My buddy continually asks me do I ever go to work, lol.

With the wife working and kids older and self sufficient (my boys in HS and my girls away in college) I'm not in demand much anymore so I can hunt whenever I want on my days off.

Double Income, No kids, I work three ten hour days a week, four days off in a row every single week.
9 out of 10?

This is my first year hunting so I dunno to what degree I will take advantage of this schedule, as I dunno if I will get burnt out.

4-5

As a teacher my schedule is very inflexible.

It does allow getting out most weekday afternoons until DST ends (we should all be voting to make DST permanent!).

I do get to hunt both weekend days in my state. If I lived in one of those ridiculous no Sunday states I'd have to move!

The biggest limiter to my schedule rating is a personal reaction to the weather, hunting pressure, and odds of sighting/harvest on public land in my state. Of the eight weeks of deer season only the first four are worth a serious effort IMHO. Once November/ rifle hits it is freezing, there are hunters everywhere, and very low odds of seeing deer (much less eligible bucks) on public land.

So for four weekends in October I'd say I'm a 7 or 8. After that it drops to a 1 or 2.

Id say I'm about an 8 or 9. My job is very flexible and a lot of times I can get a morning or afternoon hunt in without using any PTO time. I also get 5 weeks of vacation a year. So a lot of that gets used for hunting. I do have 2 young kids at home but my wife is a saint and lets me get away with really pushing the hunting time limits before she gets mad. And hunting is pretty much year round for me.
